Alas, Me-Made-March is coming to a close. I managed to wear an outfit every day, except for one Saturday that I did not make it out of bed. lol. I am very pleased with the outcome. I was hoping to make more outfits to wear, but it is still a good thing that I was able to wear EXISTING outfits that I made for the month.
I have cast on for the Hitchhiker shawl and am going to start working on a jacket for the sewalong. I hope I don't punk out on this one. I am pretty intimidated, just from the first few posts. lol.
Back to Me-Made-March. Here is this week's breakdown:
* Vogue 1020 dress
* Simplicity 2590 cardigan & Simplicity 2618 pants
* New Look 6823 dress
* Vogue 8604 skirt
* Vogue 8634 cowl neck top

I have completed another FO....finally! This was a long time in the making. I started it weeks ago, but put it down in order to start adding items to my new etsy show. Add having a 4-month old and a full-time job and this skirt fell by the wayside. The fact that Me-Made-March is going on should have been my motivation to make new items, but that was not the case I'm afraid. I've only managed to complete four items this month. That's not horrible, but not great either.
Here's my review:
Description:
Vogue 8604 - MISSES' JACKET, SKIRT AND PANTS: Jacket A is cropped, lined to edge and has back darts, kimono sleeves and collar. Slim skirt B extends above waist and has front and back darts, back zipper and back slit, length is below mid-calf. Pants C extends above waist and has front and back darts, front pleats, back zipper and side seam pockets. Purchased belt and tops. I made the slim skirt.
Pattern Sizing:
I used the size 16 but find it is a tad bit snug in places. Of course, I still have 20-some odd pounds left from having a baby, so I think the size may be fine. Ahem. According to the chart, I should have made the 18 or 20.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes! Although my checkered material is pretty stiff, so that is having a slight affect on the style.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, very straightforward.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Not much to dislike. It is still current and flattering on a multitude of shapes. There was minimal pieces, including the facings.
Fabric Used:
A woven polyester blend fabric that is a bit stiff. There was a fair amount of bumps and wrinkles after a full day at work (shown in my pics). I think a fabric with a bit more drape would work better.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I followed other PR reviewers' suggestions and added boning. I added mine to the facings at the side seams and front and back darts). This is helping to keep the shaping as well as keep the high-waist style in place as it should be. (There is a great article from Threads that covers boning...)
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes. I think I will try this one in a different fabric. It is very work appropriate! I will also make the pants and jacket.
Conclusion:
I saw positive reviews for the pants and jacket on PR and thought I'd try the skirt first. Overall, this entire pattern looks like a winner.
In other projects, I am casting on for a new shawl - Hitchhiker. Thank you Brandilion for treating me to such a sweet surprise! I saw that she was knitting this on her blogpost today and commented. Well, I checked Ravelry later in the day and there it was, a gift pattern purchase from my old roommie. I purchased some wool sock yarn at Michael's at lunch (after going to feed little girl of course *smile*) and will cast on tonight! I'm soooo excited.

I'm at the home stretch for Me-Made-March with only a few more days left. Here's my outfits from last week (week 4). I made a point to include some of my knitted creations as well.
Clockwise:
* February Lady Sweater
* Simplicity 3775 Dress (worn under a purchased brown sweater)
* Burda World of Fashion 02-2009-119 floral dress and Fusion shrug
* Vogue 8597 cowl top (worn under a purchased brown vest) and handmade bracelet
* Simplicity 2594 green stretch satin top (worn under purchased jacket) and infinity scarf
* New Look 6807 bright pink top, McCall's 6210 light pink knit jacket, & side slip cloche knit hat
* New Look 6780 knit top (worn under periwinkle, purchased cardigan)
I am working on a high-waist skirt by Vogue. I put the zipper in last night and sewed the side seams. I just have to add the facings, boning, and hem. This will be a nice addition to my work wardrobe. More to come....

I am so excited I am bursting at the seams. After several emails through my blog and facebook, I decided to go ahead and create an etsy shop. My long-time dream is to eventually create patterns for sale under my K. Liboria label. Until then, why not share my love of scarves. Initially I made several scarves in preparation of Me-Made-March. After enjoying the process of making these scarves and seeing an overwhelmingly positive response, I decided to head to my local fabric store to purchase "a few" ahem...pieces of fabric to make some scarves for my etsy shop. Take a trip over and tell me what you think. I was hoping to pick things that are not just my taste, since they are not for me (booo!), but that's easier said than done.
Back to Me-Made-March. Here's my latest FO. I made this short sleeved jacket using Butterick 5498. It's so soft and comfy, I see a few more of these in my future - in the longer sleeved version. There isn't a review on PR for this one yet, so I plan on going on there to add my two sense.
I have cut out the pattern and fabric for a new high-waisted skirt. I plan on making it this weekend to wear to work on Monday. Hopefully little girl will let me. *smile*. Have a great weekend everyone.

I'm sorry I've been such a bad blogger. I actually have several FOs that I need to blog about. I am still participating in Me-Made-March and am taking my daily photos. I was hoping to put one week's worth of outfits in a collage, but haven't gotten around to doing that yet. I'll get to it this week, though.
Even though I'm wearing a new skirt to work today, I am showing you what I wore yesterday to Church. It's my new swing dress. This is the first version, which is cute, but a bit matronly for my style. I have already completed another version, in a different material. It's a bit snug on me, so hopefully I'll be able to fit into in the next week or so to show you how it looks. This version is sleeveless and in a charmeuse fabric. My current dress is made from a light voile and is underlined with cotton batiste.
Overall, I am very happy that I managed to complete this dress on time with Casey's sewalong. I do think that I could see another one or two of these in my future, as it is an easy project after going through it once or twice (I did make a muslin of the bodice). Stay tuned for pics of my new skirt I wore to work today and my new flannel jacket/cardi in the coming days....
