Are You Jackie, Marilyn, or Someone Else?

You Are a Bette!

You are a Bette -- "I must be strong"

Bettes are direct, self-reliant, self-confident, and protective.

How to Get Along with Me

  • * Stand up for yourself... and me.

  • * Be confident, strong, and direct.

  • * Don't gossip about me or betray my trust.

  • * Be vulnerable and share your feelings. See and acknowledge my tender, vulnerable side.

  • * Give me space to be alone.

  • * Acknowledge the contributions I make, but don't flatter me.

  • * I often speak in an assertive way. Don't automatically assume it's a personal attack.

  • * When I scream, curse, and stomp around, try to remember that's just the way I am.

What I Like About Being a Bette

  • * being independent and self-reliant

  • * being able to take charge and meet challenges head on

  • * being courageous, straightforward, and honest

  • * getting all the enjoyment I can out of life

  • * supporting, empowering, and protecting those close to me

  • * upholding just causes

What's Hard About Being a Bette

  • * overwhelming people with my bluntness; scaring them away when I don't intend to

  • * being restless and impatient with others' incompetence

  • * sticking my neck out for people and receiving no appreciation for it

  • * never forgetting injuries or injustices

  • * putting too much pressure on myself

  • * getting high blood pressure when people don't obey the rules or when things don't go right

Bettes as Children Often

  • * are independent; have an inner strength and a fighting spirit

  • * are sometimes loners

  • * seize control so they won't be controlled

  • * figure out others' weaknesses

  • * attack verbally or physically when provoked

  • * take charge in the family because they perceive themselves as the strongest, or grow up in difficult or abusive surroundings

Bettes as Parents

  • * are often loyal, caring, involved, and devoted

  • * are sometimes overprotective

  • * can be demanding, controlling, and rigid

Knit & Sew Updates

I am still alive and kicking. My roommie returned from a very long cruise for work. We've been playing catch-up and discussing crafty things. She and I have signed up for a new sewing class - "making customized bras". Very cool. I ordered my pattern and am excited to get started.

I made a dress that I absolutely adore, minus the part where it doesn't fit. It be a great fit on my Sister so she'll be a happy camper. I just have to serge the bottom hem and I'm finished. Pics to come soon.

I made curtains for a certain man in my life that will be nameless. Sometimes it's very helpful blogging about personal life, but other times it just causes drama and I'm not ready for any of that right now. At any rate, my guy bought the Singer Serger for me as a "just because" gift. Unfortunately the tension was all out of wack, so I returned it and got another one - same model, just another one. Keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be serging like mad in no time.

Since I haven't been feeling too much knitting love these days, I have made a few purchases: Custom Knits by Wendy Bernard and Little Miss Muffet by the Zephyr Girls. I plan on making this baby cardi for my goddaughter whose birthday is this week. It will get to her a little late, but I'll add some extra goodies to make up for that.

I'm still plugging away during my fundamentals sewing class and am currently copying my pattern for a kimono jacket. I'm hoping to have the fabric cut and serged by tonight or tomorrow. I'll keep you all posted.

FO - Amy Butler Anna Tunic

I am on a sewing roll....during my sewing class, I was able to finish the Anna Tunic I started last week. I was so excited to try the "Sew What" skirt book, that I immediately stopped the tunic to attempt making my own pattern from the book's skirt suggestions. This is my first top and first lined project. I may shorten the length a bit to go with the camisole length instead. I picked up a cute ribbon from Joanne's during my break, which had all the top's colors incorporated into the design. Instead of using the same fabric for the top portion, I opted for a coordinating fabric.

FO - Ballerina Skirt

Thanks to my Secret Pal 12, Melissa I have created a new skirt! I used her gift, the Sew What book to make this two piece ensemble. I picked a green and gold material for the underskirt and a gold organza material for the removable overskirt. Hope you enjoy the photo shoot! While my blog is mainly a knitting blog, I have been inspired to sew more as it is a newer craft for me.

Welcome home to my roomie Brandi. Now that she is back from her cruise, we will be knitting and sewing to our hearts content. Break out the vino and let's get crackin'!

Secret Pal 12 - Final Gift

My Secret Pal Melissa sent me the sweetest package this weekend. Here are the goodies. She browsed around my blog and saw that I was also getting into sewing clothing and that I make an occasional quilt here and there. She got me sewing books, quilted coasters (which I am in absolute LOVE with!), a note pad (already being used), two Amy Butler prints, a handle to use with a knitted sewed purse, Skittles (my mouth thanks you, while my waistline says something else...lol), and beautiful yarn - from Rowan to Blue Sky Alpaca to Royal Llama Silk. Not forgetting that she already sent me a very generous gift certificate that I used to buy my Silky Wool, I had a fab partner all-in-all.

Thanks soooo much! I hope you check back on my blog soon as I have already purchased fabric (last night) to make a skirt from the Sew What Book! I couldn't be more pleased.

Sewing FO - Apron

Thanks to everyone for the nice compliments on my Orangina FO. It took so long to make, that it's nice to her the positive feedback. So I'm still plugging away at sewing and have already been to 4 weeks of sewing classes this past month. I still have 13 more classes for the semester! Here is my first completed project for class as well as the first completed project on my new Bernina!

Here are the latest pattern purchases. Of course I have been reading more blogs and have my eye on many many more. I'm going to work on tracing the skirt pattern this evening along with working on my newest knitting project...Nicole.
