KNITTERS-DELIGHT

Still Around...

This post is to let you all know that I am still here. I've been going through a real rough patch. In my life, I've always had my faith in God, family, music that speaks to me in an unexplainable way, and my pets, which have always been children to me as I do not have any 2-legged versions. I have been betrayed in life, by those that claim to love me, relationships that have failed, and numerous nights staring up at my ceiling, crying and praying for peace... Through all of these tough times, my version of children have always been there for a silent comfort.

When I first moved to California, I brought my girls - Hannah & Tupper - with me. My 2 happily spoiled cats. After only a couple months, my Tupper was bitten by a spider and suffered weeks of treatments and trips to the vet. A few days after the fourth of July, she died in my arms. The pain I felt was intense. Eventually, I picked myself up and carried on. Hannah was a comfort. Many months later I went to a new shelter and found Hannah a brother...Scofield (after Michael Scofield from the tv series Prison Break).

Almost two years later, Hannah, almost 16 years old became frail, went from 11 pound to a mere 4 1/2 pounds. I put her to sleep on Wednesday. I am trying to pick up the pieces, but am not in a state to sew, knit, or do anything else productive other than clean.

The blog has been a great support to me, so after days of silence I decided to make this post. I appreciate all of the prays and positive support from you all.

I know I will be back, as a stronger person...eventually.

Here's a picture of Hannah from a while back. She was good about keeping me company while I would knit....

Oh Susan... I'm sorry about Hannah. It's so tough to lose a pet. I lost my Sheba 10 years ago and I still think about her. She died when she was 16 years old in her sleep. We found her in the backyard curled up like she was just napping. But she didn't answer when we called.

I'm so sorry to hear about your beloved cat. I know how hard it is to lose a pet, and to have to put one to sleep. It takes time to get over sadness like that. I'll be thinking of you.

I can relate to how you are feeling. I have children but my animals are right underneath when it comes to the love I feel for them. Find peace in knowing that he is free of pain now and that she lived a long and full life with you. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry about Hannah's passing. Pets are like family, and their loss is always heartwrenching beyond belief. You gave Hannah a wonderful life, better than many poor cats have a chance to have. I can't imagine what I'll do when my babies (2 cats, too) pass on. Big hugs!

As a cat lover who is very attached to my own four-legged "child", this just breaks my heart. It sounds like Hannah had a long life, and was surely a blissful cat in your company. I am so, so sorry, and will keep you in my prayers.

I am so sorry to hear about Hannah and my thoughts are with you. Remember, each day will get better and I'm sure she's there with you in spirit. I don't have children either, so my 2 dogs besides my husband are the loves of my life. My oldest is 16 1/2 and these days I've been counting each day as a blessing.

I'm sorry about your loss of your beloved cat. We have a cat that is 18 years old and becoming very frail looking. She's still pretty active at times, though.

My condolences to you on the loss of your dear Hannah. I don't have children either but my Edgar (cat) is my son. He's always around to keep me company especially when I'm down. They know. It's hard to lose a pet and I feel your pain. Hannah I'm sure had a loving and wonderful life with you. Cherish the memories and you will make it through the rough times.

Peace be with you.

You have a great blog. I'd love for you to come and visit my blog. I just made a Vintage Vogue Original 1944 Design, V2858. On the previous page you'll find a dress I made from an original 1974 pattern that I found in an antique store. I call that post The Lady in Lavender. And lots of other things in between. Hope you enjoy.
