Updates - Circle Shrug

I have not done much sewing. I started a dress using Butterick 5259. I only have the belt, loops, and hem left, but it seems huge on me. I might cut the back, remove the zipper, and take in the sizes. Right now it looks like a giant lilac muumuu. Not my style. The belt could make a difference, too. We will see....Other than that, I have been making a bit more progress on my circle shrug. I am working on the sleeves right now. It's coming along nicely so far. Tonight I will try to finish my dress and start a top.

I looked at this pattern on-line. Can you remove some of the fullnes by taking a deeper seam under the kimono sleeve, and continuing down the side seams? Kimono sleeves tend to be quite large. To me, it doesn't look as if you need to remove the zipper to alter.

Good luck with it. Hope it works out.

I agree with the other poster regarding the way I would take in the dress. What I always do before choosing a size is look at the finished measurements printed on the pattern tissue and pick accordingly. Some of the patterns have so much ease it's ridiculous! I routinely sew a size that's two (sometimes one) smaller than my measurements would indicate, for knits.

"Right now it looks like a giant lilac muumuu. Not my style." Lol! I certainly do not see you as being a muumuu kind of gal!

Woo, where have I been?! I cannot believe I've missed all these fabo outfits. I just went back over about 6 months worth of your posts and saw some truly amazing things! Great to see you're keeping the good sewing mojo going. Smooches and hugs to you for your recent issues. Sorry to hear of your heartache.
