Hello everyone. I'm knitting again. I've been having a lot of ups and downs. The break-up part hasn't been as bad as I would have thought, but the separating our lives has. We're still living together trying to figure who has to pack up and who gets to stay. I've also added a second job to supplement my income. Even though pay as a General Manager is decent, I've been accustomed to our double salaries helping with household expenses. Now - regardless of where I live, it'll be just my salary.
Enough of that, though - here's a pick of my latest project, The Romantic Cable and Lace Vest from SweaterBabe.com. I'm knitting it using Cotton Ease in color 191 violet. It's a really pretty bluish purple color. This is the first project that I'll be doing seaming in quite some time. It's a pretty quick knit and I'll be excited to wear it. I can put a crisp, white shirt underneath and wear it to work or wear it as is for a weekend top. More to come....
Thank you all so very much for all of the kind words. It has really helped me tremendously. I'm hagning in there and taking one day at a time. I even started thinking about knitting projects again - although the energy to do them is not yet happening. I've been keeping busy with work and taking care of the fish and cats, so I'm not as tearful as earlier. It comes and goes, but I am pushing through. Lots of love to all of you for the warm thoughts during this tough time of transition.

My boyfriend and I broke up last night. I moved to San Diego to be with him after a long-distance relationship while I finished my Master's Degree. We lasted six years. I'm very sad about this and am not sure what to do moving forward. We had a rocky and rough transition with me moving here, and he's decided it's too much. I frogged my Fifi and have not had the energy to even consider a new knitting project. So much to think about. We live together. I've stayed at my friends place, but will have to go home tomorrow and figure out what we'll do. We have cats and fish together and a life that we worked on combining this past year. If I seem down in the dumps, please bear with me, this is going to be tough for me.

Here's my progress on Fifi. I have separated the sleeves and will start working on those first (something I usually try to do, in order to reduce the finishing feeling associated with things like arms, weaving-in-ends, etc.). I'm not so sure about the fix yet. I tried it on, but it's a little too soon to know for sure. I have made a final decision to forget about trying to do short-row shaping. I'll do my old stand-by of going up a needle size or two during the bust section to compensate. Using Knit Picks' interchangeable needles will make this a breeze. I'll try it on once I've finished the sleeves to decide if the fit is working or not.

Here is my Fifi progress. I did have to tinker back 4 rows, but it wasn't as bad as I would have thought. All is well in Fifi land, but I am a little unsure of Row 43 that says continue in est. pattern. I'm knitting the small size. Can anyone interpret?
I received the Fall 2007 issue of Interweave Knits and I'm VERY happy with it. I'm not much of a cables person typically, but now that I'm doing Fifi, I'm warming up to it. I have dog eared several pages of projects. First on the list...the Tangled Yoke Cardigan by Eunny Jang. It is simple, yet has enough interest with the cable design. Happily, I received the Knit Picks Summer 2007 magazine the same day...so I'm picking great yarns for these projects. I also purchased the Tree Jacket pattern from the Zephyr Girls, so I'll be adding yarn to my stash for that project as well. So many patterns, so little time!
